It’s the most convenient option for UAM students who want to get to class without relying on public transportation, live with other college students, and have everything taken care of from day one.

Is the residence located on the UAM campus?
StepHouse Cantoblanco is a 5-minute walk from the Autonomous University of Madrid campus. It’s not actually on campus, but it’s right next door: just cross the street and you’re at your school. No commuter trains, no buses, no waiting.
Which UAM schools are nearby?
All the schools on the Cantoblanco campus. Psychology, Medicine, Law, Economics and Business, Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics), Engineering (EPS), Humanities, and Teacher Education and Education are less than a 10-minute walk from the residence entrance.
Do you have an agreement with the Autonomous University of Madrid?
StepHouse Cantoblanco is a private student residence designed specifically for UAM students. We are not an official university residence, but we can help you with the documentation your department requires to verify your housing.
Is this a good option if I'm an international student or an Erasmus student at the UAM?
Yes. We have contracts in English, a bilingual team, and a diverse community with many international students. We'll help you with your NIE, opening a bank account, and meeting you at the airport to make your arrival in Madrid as smooth as possible.
How do I get to the UAM campus from the dorm?
It's a 5-minute walk. You don't need a car, the commuter train, or a bus. If you have class at 9:00 a.m., you can get up at 8:30 a.m. and still arrive with plenty of time to spare.
All utilities (water, electricity, internet), access to common areas such as coworking spaces, gym, and terraces, all annual events and activities, and private areas that can be reserved.
Is there a laundry service?
Yes, with an app to easily manage your laundry.
Are there spaces for studying in groups or quietly?
Yes! We have coworking areas and private study rooms so you can find the perfect environment for your needs. In addition, most residences have a large room for presentations or group work.
Are visitors allowed?
Of course, as long as the rules of coexistence are respected. Check with reception for the conditions for overnight stays for guests.
What security measures do you have in place?
24/7 CCTV surveillance, electronic card access, and security personnel.
What if I'm still waiting to be admitted to UAM?
You can reserve your room with flexible terms while you wait for the admission cutoff score or your placement assignment. If you are ultimately not admitted to UAM, we will refund your reservation fee and deposit.

Can I choose my room?
Provided there is availability, you can choose the room that best suits your needs. You can do this through our website or by speaking directly with our team, who will advise you throughout the process.
Do I have to pay anything to secure my room?
Yes. In order to reserve your room before they sell out, a deposit is required. Check with the residence for more details.
What happens if I am not accepted into university?
Don't worry, we will refund your deposit if you do not get a place.
When should I pay the deposit?
After reserving your place, you will receive an email asking you for the information necessary to formalize your contract and pay the security deposit. You will have five days to make this payment and complete the required information. This amount will be refunded at the end of your stay. Please consult the refund conditions.
How do I get to the residence from outside Madrid?
The Cantoblanco Universidad commuter train station (Line C-4) is a 5-minute walk away. From Atocha or Chamartín, it takes 25–30 minutes. If you’re coming from the airport, we’ll help you arrange transportation on the day of your arrival.
What do I need to bring when I move in?
Everything is ready for you: furniture and a fully equipped kitchen with oven/microwave, refrigerator, and more. Just bring your personal belongings and you're all set!
What types of events and activities are organized?
From workshops and talks to sports activities, trips, and social events, we offer an annual calendar designed to foster community and learning. And of course, we take into account the tastes and interests of our residents to tailor these events to them.
How can I manage my mail and packages?
We have a reception system where you can pick up your letters and packages at set times.
What is not allowed?
For safety reasons, heaters, additional appliances, and personal furniture are not allowed.
Can I stay for just one semester or during the summer?
Of course. We offer semester-long stays and summer stays. Check availability with our team.
What happens if I want to cancel my contract?
Cancellations are accepted if justified: non-admission to university (first choice), visa refusal, failure to pass university entrance exams, or waiting for final grades (depending on availability). Cancellations must be notified by email as soon as possible and refunds will be processed within 30 days of notification.
